Why you should attend this masterclass
Will this planning proposal create a well-designed development? Planners, councillors and others involved in the planning process often find themselves expected to answer that difficult question. If they have not spent several years studying design or a lifetime assessing buildings and spaces, they may need some help. This masterclass introduces a newly developed, structured method of design appraisal that can be used by people with no design training. The method can be used to assess planning proposals for individual buildings or larger developments, and for planning applications or masterplans.
Who should attend?
This masterclass is aimed at:
- Development management staff – how do you assess the design of development proposals?
- Elected members – how can you recognise good design?
- Planning consultants – what is the role of design appraisal?
- Regeneration staff – how can you tell developers what you are looking for?
- Developers – what are the planners looking for?
- Members of amenity societies – how can you recognise quality?
