What is this conference about?

A key planning debate in recent years has focused on the way in which local planning authorities plan for infrastructure to support development, and ensure that the funds necessary to stimulate timely delivery are to hand. The development of financial contributions under section 106 of the Town and Country Planning Act into local tariff systems has been mirrored by government proposals for a Planning Gain Supplement tax and then a new Community Infrastructure Levy, provided for in the Planning Bill in Parliament during 2008.

This conference will consider the latest developments in this still changing debate. It will identify the outcomes of research, focus on the different views of those involved and look at what is likely to be delivered in the future.

Who should attend

  • Local authority planners
  • Planning consultants
  • Strategic planners at regional and sub-regional levels
  • Housing association professionals
  • Representatives of community organisations

Benefits of attending

By attending this one-day conference you will discuss:

1. Look at the proposals for a statutory Community Infrastructure Levy

2. Appreciate why Government abandoned its plans for a Planning Gain Supplement

3. Understand the pros and cons of the current s106 arrangement

4. Examine how the new levy and s106 contributions might co-exist

5. Understand the likely impact on your organisation or community

6. How planning gain might be covered by a new government
